REVIEW: Lost- Season 6 Ep. 7 "Recon"

ABC didn't even ask if they could use this picture of me! What gives?!

Lost gave us another great episode. The only thing was it didn’t go much of anywhere. It was better than the Kate episode from this season, but it probably didn’t have as much information in it. It’s probably just because I like Sawyer a lot more than I like Kate.

Overall Experience and Whatever Else I Want to Talk About...
Our episode starts off with the typical Sawyer sex scene. It wasn’t much of a surprise until we found out Sawyer wasn’t a conman but a cop. It makes me wonder what changed in Sawyer’s life that pushed him to being a cop. I like Sawyer as a cop = a win for me.

The rest of the episode consists of Sawyer meeting up with Charlotte via a set up date by Miles. We find out Sawyer has something to hide (nothing new there). He’s keeping his obsession about killing the conman that pushed his father to suicide a secret. All that goes down the drain when Miles figures out Sawyer’s lying. Sawyer doesn’t seem to be quite as good of a liar in the sideways-universe.

On the island Sawyer does exactly what you would expect. He’s conning people to get what he wants. He’s conning Fake Locke (of which I will refer to as Flocke from now on) and Widmore. It’s was interesting to see Sawyer ablity to con Flocke so easily. Because we know Sawyer, we see that he’s building trust in both Widmore and Flocke in order to pull the his greatest con. This is later confirmed when Sawyer talks to Kate at the end of the episode. They’re breaking off that island together. Apparently he’s able to forgive and forget quickly. He is SO over Juliet!

Claire is crazy and I thought for sure Kate was going to get a knife through her throat. As much as I don’t like Kate I’m glad she didn’t get killed. The most touching scene of the episode happened between Kate and Claire. I thought that was such a good scene about forgiveness. It took a lot of guts for Claire to say she was sorry. I had a few tears.

This week was fun but had very little information in it. It was good to catch back up with Sawyer and Widmore. One question I have is who killed the people on the beach? Was it Widmore or or Flocke. I see this season ending in a great war (I think this is obvious to most). It is interesting to know that it might not end in a fight between Jacob and Flocke but between Flocke and Widmore.

That the worst cliffhanger in Lost history? It wasn’t much of a revelation that Sawyer was going to try and steal the sub. With as few episodes as we have left I thought filler episodes like this were behind us. My guess is ABC didn’t want to show some crazy revealing episode against the first week of American Idol’s top 12 competition. That is pure conjecture.

I’m the most excited about next week. We actually get to see what happens with Richard. I hope it’s the episode I’ve been waiting for since the Desmond centric episode “The Constant”. See you next week. Destiny awaits!
