GameTrust Podcast 19: Plexigas Edtion

And That's Saying Something.

Yeah, I spelled that right. It's the plexi "Gas" edition. Listen to the podcast and you'll get it. Anyway, Ivey, Matthew, and Allie join forces to bring you an insightful but very funny GameTrust Podcast. Allie turns into our personal laugh track.

We discuss Batman 3, Playstation's new Netflix app, Halo Reach, and our discussion of the week has to do with the gap of violence and sex in the ratings system. Why is there such a disconnect between the two? Believe me we all have opinions about that.

GameStop is having some great deals this month so make sure you check those out in the deal section after the break.

Inception: My Different Take

Inception is a great movie. It’s everything this movie goer could want. It has the escapism of Avatar, the superb story telling of The Dark Knight, the metaphysical headiness of The Matrix, and heist and espionage elements of movies like Ocean’s 11 and Where Eagles Dare. Some would say it has it all.

Inception dives into our brains and causes us to ponder a part of ourselves that we rarely, if ever, have control of--Our dreams. It makes one ponder about the reality of the world we live in and the meaning of life all together. For that reason this movie is not for everyone. Following the break you will not find a review of the movie but a look at its themes and questions. If you would like a well written review head over to Ebert’s review. If you’d like to see how it relates to the family see Plugged-In Online’s review. I agree with both wholly. Warning spoilers will follow the break>>

Weekend Movie Review Round up

Thinking about about going to see a movie this weekend? Do you want to see if it's family friendly? Fear not I have Plugged-In Online's latest reviews. Plugged in is a family organization run by Focus on the Family. I encourage you to read there reviews before bringing kids out to any film.

I have not seen either of these films. I plan on seeing Inception with my wife, but don't care too much about The Sorcerer's Apprentice. It is curious to see Plugged-In recommend The Sorcerer's Apprentice with its sorcery theme. Read the review and come to your own conclusion on both movies.

Watch for my personal impressions regarding Inception next week. If you've seen the movies please email us your impression but it would be even better if you would post your impressions or recommendations below.

Weekend Movie Review Roundup

So what are you going to see at the movies this week? I've round up some reviews of the big movies coming out this weekend. If you guys like this I'll continue to do it every week.

This is how it works. Because I don't have infinite time or funds (Though I wish I could find a Game Genie code for that) I'm putting up reviews of the movies from other sites. One of the links will be to a family friendly site and the other will be to a regular type movie review site. Read them both if you'd like and figure out which movie is right for you.

The A-Team

The Karate Kid

My pick for the week goes to Karate Kid. It seems pretty safe, and I'm actually excited about it. I wonder if he'll be "The best around?" We can only hope so.

GameTrust 16: Beaver Fever Edition

This is our sweet sixteen. Allie, Ben, and Ivey will entertain you during this weeks podcast. We enjoy cookies and ice cream during the podcast. If you want some you'll have to travel back in time and knock on our door... I liked to see that happen. We talk about iPhone 4, The Dark Knight's failure, and the Rush Limbaugh movie (huh?). Yeah, that last one is legit. Ivey also comes up with a new catch phrase that may have run its course during the podcast. You be the judge.

Also listen in for our deals of the week. If you're cheap like us this is a gerat section. You can click on the links past the break in this post to find the gaming deals.

Remember to email us and comment us on iTunes. If you do we'll send you a free bowl of cereal. Subscribe below!

REVIEW: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

UbiSoft's latest installment of its much heralded franchise

Unlike some of the other games I have reviewed I am very familiar with The Prince of Persia franchise. I’ve been enjoying the games ever sense The Sands of Time. The franchise has had its low points, but it was also a great leap forward in 3D platforming. There were few games that properly executed the 3D platformer. Most struggled to not disorient the player as they jumped from platform to platform. Prince of Persia excelled where other platformers failed. UbiSoft added par core and buttery smooth animations as well as a solid control scheme and inventive level designs. It was a joy to watch Prince flow across and around his obstacles with little frustrations to the player.

Now we enter some tricky ground with this newest installment. Sure it has its more powerful console counterparts, but this review is about the Wii game. The Wii game is different from both the 360 and PS3 versions. It is made specifically for Wii. The graphics are serviceable, but not stunning like past games were. The Forgotten Sands rehashes earlier Prince games. But that’s not always a bad thing. That being said; there are some additions but not all of them are good.

Lost Theory Round Up

Lost is having a dreaded week off. I have to look at it from a different angle in order not to get too upset. My view is that this week off gives me some time to reflect on the last 6 seasons.

I figured that maybe we could use this time to discuss and run down some theories. So what I’m going to write is a list of theories I have. I just ask you put down your theories in the comment section. By no means is this a complete list of theories. The Lost universe is too big for the writers of Lost to answer all the question... Let alone me, but together we can give it a good try.

I intend to go through the theories person by person. Along the way I’m sure I’ll ramble into some coherent thoughts.

REVIEW: Lost Season 6 Episode 11 "Happily Ever After"

I don’t know why I enjoy episodes of Lost that focus on Desmond. It might be Desmond and Penny’s relationship or just the great performances by Henry Ian Cusack. Whatever the reason, this was a solid Lost.
